DoTerra Essential Oil Treatment For:
Infections

Infectious diseases kill more people worldwide than any other single cause. Infectious diseases are caused by germs. Germs are tiny living things that are found everywhere – in air, soil and water. You can get infected by touching, eating, drinking or breathing something that contains a germ.
Germs can also spread through animal and insect bites, kissing and sexual contact.
There are four main kinds of germs:
- Bacteria – one-celled germs that multiply quickly and may release chemicals which can make you sick
- Viruses – capsules that contain genetic material, and use your own cells to multiply
- Fungi – primitive vegetables, like mushrooms or mildew
- Protozoa – one-celled animals that use other living things for food and a place to live
Antibiotics kill not only the bad bacteria, but also the good bacteria (stomach flora) in your gut. That “good bacteria” is crucial for your immune system to function properly.
Cells in our bodies are surrounded by an oily membrane.
Bacteria are found on the outside of these cell walls and Viruses are on the inside of the cells.
Regular antibiotics cannot penetrate the cell wall and so they only work on bacterial infections NOT on viruses (and many times cause side effects).
Essential Oils CAN penetrate the cell wall and are therefore effective against bacteria AND viruses.
The following DoTerra Essential Oils have been proven to be most effective in killing microorganisms -without side effects and your body will never become immune to them!

Diffusing Essential Oils

Filed under How To Use Doterra Essential Oils

A common way to enjoy the benefits of essential oils is diffusion. An ultrasonic atomization diffuser such as the Lotus™ by doTERRA is great in releasing oils into the air. The Lotus™ acts as a humidifier, anion (negative ion) generator, and air purifier. It implements nano-silver filtration, cold catalyst filtration, active carbon filtration, electrostatic filtration, as well as ultrasonic atomization to diffuse atomized essential oils effectively into the air in the form of a micro-particles mist. This is done silently and allows the human body to easily absorb those minute ion particles.
Properly diffused oils are known to kill bacteria and virus, improve mental clarity, enhance or calm emotions, and increase feelings of well-being. The Lotus™ diffuser can fill a room, office, or lobby with therapeutic aromatics in only minutes. Over longer periods of time, these diffused oils strengthen the immune system, reduce mold, and reduce unpleasant odors.
Oil Pulling

What is Oil Pulling?
Oil Pulling is a safe, simple, cheap and gentle procedure who’s benefits range from bringing health to your mouth and ridding your mouth of harmful toxins and bacteria, to a method that cures and prevents diseases and extends your healthy life.
Studies are on-going, but the procedure is gaining more and more popularity as people are finding success and positive results with oil pulling. We will explain the details of oil pulling later in this article, but the basics involve pulling and swishing 1 tablespoon of Coconut, Olive, Grapeseed or some other quality oil around your mouth and through your teeth for up to 20 Min., then spitting. The therapy is simple and completely harmless, as you do not ingest medication or drugs.
Oil pulling was practiced in Ayurvedic medicine. Modern oil pulling was introduced in 1992 by Dr. F. Karach, MD. Dr. Karach claimed that this treatment will achieve remarkable results with illnesses like migraine headaches, bronchitis, diseased teeth, arterio thrombosis, chronic blood disorders such as leukemia, arthritis and related illnesses, neuro-physiological paralysis, eczema, gastro enteritis, peritonitis, heart disease, kidney disease, meningitis, and woman’s hormonal disorders are completely eliminated from the organism. Dr. Karach’s claims that oil pulling heals the whole body in perpetuity. He sites results with terminal diseases such as cancer, aids and chronic infections.
According to the African Journal of Microbiology Research, oil pulling is an effective defense against the bacteria associated with dental caries (tooth decay). Studies show that it has also been beneficial in the elimination of bleeding gums, the fastening of loose teeth and the visible whitening of the teeth.
Many advocates of oil pulling suggest safflower, sunflower or vegetable oil, but more and more studies and successes are finding higher quality oils are more effective. The anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal properties of whole, extra virgin coconut oil makes it the perfect choice for oil pulling and certainly is gaining popularity.
The use of essential oils added to the primary pulling oil is slow to find it’s way to most oil pulling enthusiasts because of the lack of superior essential oils that are CPTG quality. But as people discover how a CPTG essential oil can benefit oil pulling, essential oils will become more and more popular in oil pulling.
Does maintaining a healthy mouth help you have a healthy body?
Up-and-coming science suggests that advanced gum disease can be linked to diabetes, cardiovascular problems, and pre-term birth.
The Early stages of gum disease is gingivitis-which affects a majority of all adults at some point in their lives, and most don’t even know it.
Many theories exist and more studies are underway to explore the connection between good oral health and overall health. The conclusions lead us to know that a healthy mouth leads only to good things.
Lets explore these connections more.
Persistent halitosis (bad breath) is often a sign of a more serious problem in your mouth. Poor oral hygiene and gum disease are the primary causes of halitosis.
It is estimated that around 50% of adults have some form of gingivitis. Gingivitis, if left untreated, may progress to a more serious condition called periodontitis.
Besides weakening your teeth to the point of loosing them, studies suggest that periodontitis may affect the health of your entire body.
On going studies suggests that periodontitis may be associated with diabetes, heart disease, and numerous other health issues.
Heart Disease and Heart Attack
Studies suggest that advanced gum disease may be a contributing factor to heart disease. The theory is that gum disease or periodontitis, allow oral germs to enter the bloodstream. These germs may affect the heart by attaching to the fatty plaques in your arteries, contributing to the formation of clots. According to this theory, these clots, in turn, can cause the restriction of blood flow (a.k.a. atherosclerosis) which may lead to a heart attack.
Stroke
On going studies also suggest that advanced gum disease may be associated with the presence of blocked arteries in the brain, a condition which may lead to a stroke.
Further studies advise that gum disease, if allowed to progress, may allow germs to enter the bloodstream. These germs may attach to the fatty plaques in your arteries, contributing to the formation of clots. According to this theory, these clots, in turn, can cause the restriction of blood flow and, in some cases, a stroke.
Diabetes
Emerging science also suggests that diabetes and gum disease may be linked. Not only does diabetes increase your chance of gum infection, but gum infection may make diabetes harder to control.
Diabetics are significantly more likely to develop gum disease because of the way diabetes slows the body’s natural healing process. Research also suggests that advanced gum disease may have an adverse effect on blood-sugar levels-potentially making diabetes treatment less effective.
Can essential oils help with oral care, therefore health care?
This is where effective oral care can become a necessary part of health care. Essential oils used the with an oral care routine that includes brushing, flossing and oil pulling with anti-septic and anti-bacterial essential oils can prevent gingivitis and peridontitis, thus improving our over all health care.
Exactly how do you do it?
Prior to breakfast on an empty stomach you take one tablespoon of coconut or other carrier oil and add 3-6 drops of essential oils.
Add your essential oils based on issues. They might include, but are NOT limited to:
· On Guard – General immune system, mouth and gum health, teeth problems, halitosis, cold, flu, sore throat, virus.
· Oregano – Flu, Cold, Virus, sore throat, swollen glands, cold sores, herpes, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antibiotic, anti viral.
· Clove – Mouth and Gum, analgesic, anti-biotic, and antiseptic.
· Frankincense – Analgesic, cold & flu, mouth surgery, mouth trauma, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory.
· Geranium – mouth and gum, throat, laryngitis, analgesic, antiseptic
· Grapefruit – Cleansing, detoxifying, anti-septic, antibacterial.
· Lemon – Cleansing, detoxifying, cold, sore throat, anti-septic.
· Lemongrass – herpes, halitosis,
· Melaleuca – Cold, flu, Immune system, braces irritation, Gum and mouth sores, Congestion, herpes, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial,, antiseptic.
· Myrrh – mouth, teeth and gum, cold & flu, tonsillitis, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antiseptic.
Take the oils into the mouth but do not swallow it. Move the oil slowly in the mouth as rinsing or swishing and as Dr Karach puts it; ” sip, suck and pull through the teeth” for fifteen to twenty minutes. This process thoroughly mixes the oils with saliva. Swishing activates the enzymes and the enzymes draw toxins out of the blood. The oil must not be swallowed, for it has become toxic. As the process continues, the oil gets thinner and white. It is then spit from the mouth, the oral cavity must be thoroughly rinsed and mouth must be washed thoroughly. Just use normal tap water and brush with normal toothpaste, or on guard with water.
This has in effect pulled toxins and poisons out through the mucous membranes of the mouth to be expelled. If you use virgin coconut oil, expel into the garbage, as it can solidify in the drain.
It is important to understand that during the oil-pulling/swishing process one’s metabolism is intensified. Many feel this leads to improved health. For many, the most striking results of this process is the fastening of loose teeth, the healing of sores, the elimination of bleeding gums and the visible whitening of the teeth.
The oil pulling /swishing is done best before breakfast. To accelerate the healing process, it can be repeated three times a day, but it is always best before meals on an empty stomach.
Remember, do not swallow. The oil should be spat out.
Per Dr. Karach, that this treatment will achieve remarkable results with illnesses like migraine headaches, bronchitis, diseased teeth, arterio thrombosis, chronic blood disorders such as leukemia, arthritis and related illnesses, neuro physiological paralysis, eczema, gastro enteritis, peritonitis, heart disease, kidney disease, meningitis, and women’s hormonal disorders are completely eliminated from the organism. The benefit according to Dr. Karach’s is that the oil therapy heals the whole body in perpetuity. In terminal diseases such as cancer, aids and chronic infections Dr. Karach reports this treatment method has been shown to achieve astonishing results.

Essential Oils – Where do I begin?

This is the question that so many of us have when looking at essential oils! Using essential oils is simple and highly satisfying, but with so many oils and oil blends available it can be overwhelming for beginners. As a simple first step to your journey with essential oils, I recommend our introductory essential oil kit. This kit includes our most popular oils-lavender, peppermint and lemon. These 3 essential oils will provide you and your family a compelling experience with the life-enhancing properties of therapeutic grade essential oils.
Lavender is our most popular oil. It is widely used and acknowledged for its calming and relaxing properties. Here are a few ways that I like to use lavender:
• Apply to the bottom of feet before sleeping for a calming effect
• Apply to bee stings or bug bites to calm the reaction
• Add to bath salts or fractionated coconut oil for a relaxing bath
• Apply to your wrist during stressful situations
• Apply to sunburn or scalded skin to soothe
• Apply to back and feet or a restless child
• Use with fractionated coconut oil to soothe diaper rash
• Calm sensitive skin and soothe pores after hair removal
• Apply to chapped lips before applying lip balm
• Use with peppermint for a healthy scalp massage
• Add to lotion or fractionated coconut oil for a stress relieving hand massage
• Add one drop to a band aid pad to soothe a cut or scrape
Peppermint is my personal favorite essential oil. I think it was the first oil I ever experienced! As an essential oil, it is useful to ease breathing and as a digestive aid. Here are a few ways to use peppermint:
• Take one drop internally to calm indigestion or upset stomach.
• Add to hot water and drink as a tea or cold water for a refreshing drink
• Add to a cold compress to reduce fever
• Use with lemon to disinfect your toothbrush after or during illness
• Diffuse aromatically or apply topically to open sinuses and airways
• Apply with lavender to sore, tired muscles and joints
• Breathe during a meal to help you feel full
• Add to a cold water compress or foot bath to cool off when overheated
• Inhale as a non-stimulant, invigorating pick me up on long drives
• Add to shampoo and conditioner for a stimulating hair and scalp massage
• Diffuse during study time for alertness
Lemon is known as a powerful aromatic, topical, and internal cleanser and can be used to complement many other oils. Diffusing lemon in a room can cleanse the air and uplift mood. It can also be used on surfaces throughout the home as a non-toxic cleaner. Here a few other ways you can use lemon:
• Add a drop to a glass of water served at a restaurant to cleanse
• Diffuse or apply topically for mood elevation
• Add to drop of honey to soothe a cough or sore throat
• Dilute with fractionated coconut oil for a daily conditioning nail massage
• Apply directly to cold sores for soothing relief
• Diffuse in a room to neutralize odors
• Remove gun, label adhesives, and greasy substances from fabric
• Add to olive oil for a non-toxic furniture polish
• Use to clean kitchen counters and stainless steel appliances
Oregano Essential Oil

Powerful antioxidant and immunity support, nature’s strongest antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, lymphatic stimulator, supports respiratory system.
Oregano Essential Oil is our first choice when coming down with a cold or flu symptoms. My husband and I use 6 drops of Oregano in a capsule 3 times a day and for my son, we apply 2 drops of the oil to his feet and then cover them with socks.
Oregano is a hot oil, so I do not recommend taking by mouth without first diluting it or putting it into a capsule. You can purchase capsules at your local health food store. Also, for young children, be sure to cover the feet immediately so they do not touch the oil and then touch themselves.
Here is a wonderful article on the benefits of using Oregano Essential Oil and the research. Be sure when using essential oils that you are using only Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade for health and wellness benefits!
Oil Of Oregano Rivals Modern Antibiotic Drugs
by Bill Sardi
Oil pressed from oregano leaves that contain the active ingredient carvacrol may be an effective treatment against sometimes drug-resistant bacterial infection. Georgetown University researchers have found that oil of oregano appears to reduce infection “as effectively as traditional antibiotics.”
Oil of oregano at relatively low doses were found to be efficacious against Staphylococcus bacteria and was comparable in its germ-killing properties to antibiotic drugs such as streptomycin, pencillin and vancomycin. [Science Daily 10/11/2001] The findings were presented by Harry G. Preuss, MD, professor of physicology and biophysics, Georgetown University, at the American College of Nutrition’a annual meeting in Orlando, Florida.
Earlier this year researchers at the Department of Food Science at the University of Tennessee reported that, among various plant oils, oil of oregano exhibited the greatest antibacterial action against common pathogenic germs such as Staph, E. coli and Listeria. [Journal Food Protection, Volume 64, July 2001] Last year British researchers reported oregano oil had antibacterial activity against 25 different bacteria. [Journal Applied Microbiology, Volume 88, February 2000] A clinical study in Italy has shown that oil of oregano can be used to treat intestinal parasites. [Phytotherapy Research, Volume 14, May 2000]
The body of positive evidence for oregano oil as a major antibiotic is growing. Among 52 plant oils tested, oregano was considered to have “pharmacologic” action against common bugs such as Candida albicans (yeast), E. coli, Salmonella enterica and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. [Journal Applied Microbiology, volume 86, June 1999] Pseudomonas is a type of germ that is getting more difficult to treat as it has developed strains that are resistant against antibiotic drugs.
Of recent interest are reports showing that carvacrol from oil of oregano kills spores, such as Bacillus cereus and Bacillus anthracis (anthrax). [Archives Microbiology, Volume 174, October 2000; Quarterly Review Biology, Volume 73, March 1998] Bacillus cereus is considered to be from the same species as Bacillus anthracis (anthrax). [Applied Environmental Microbiology, Volume 66, June 2000] In tests of antibiotics and antiseptics, Bacillus cereus is often used in studies in lieu of the anthrax strain. [University of Michigan News & Information Service, Sept. 23, 1998]
Oil of oregano is not to be confused with common oregano in the kitchen spice cupboard, which is usually marjoram (Origanum majorana or O. vulgare) rather than true oregano (Origanum vulgare).
The growing problem of antibiotic resistance has health authorities concerned. Already various germs are showing resistance to vancomycin, particularly to intestinal bacteria (Enterococcal species) among hospitalized patients. [Southern Medical Journal, Volume 94, August 2001] Vancomycin is considered to be the most potent antibiotic available and is withheld from use as a drug of last resort. Vancomycin costs about $16 per pill versus about $1 for the purest-strength oregano oil. Drug resistance does not develop against naturally-occuring antibiotics such as garlic and oil of oregano.

Rejuvenate your body, soul and mind with this amazing essential oil treatment. The 8 essential oils of the AromaTouch technique work together to rid the body of toxins that are deep within the body – causing inflammation and pain. The AromaTouch oils are applied to the back raindrop style with a variety of massage technniques and heat application. This treatment offers many benefits including stress relief, detoxification, immune enhancement, pain relief and deep relaxation.
WHY AromaTouch?
Environmental factors have a negative impact on overall health and well-being, disturbing homeostasis – the balance our bodies need to function optimally. Such challenges, even when they do not immediately result in disease, cause our bodies to function below optimal levels. These include:
STRESS
Emotional distress, career choices, family discord, financial worries, and the like elevate stress levels. Clinical studies have linked high stress and chronic stress to numerous negative health conditions.
TOXIC INSULT
Exposure to a wide array of toxic insults, including disease-causing pathogens, hormone, and pesticide contaminated food products, and increasing levels of free-radicals from pollution, foods, and sunlight contribute to rises in the occurrence of varying illnesses.
INFLAMMATION
The increased consumption of food with pro-inflammatory components (foods high in polyunsaturated vegetable oils such as safflower, sunflower, corn and peanut oil) together with high carbohydrates, low protein diets contribute to increased inflammation in body systems. Stress, with its accompanying imbalance of cortisol, can also contribute to inflammation, as do various (and increasingly prevalent) immunological dysfunctions. Studies increasingly show links between fatal diseases and inflammation.
AUTONOMIC IMBALANCE
The opposite of homeostasis, an imbalance of the autonomic nervous system (aka: the ANS or visceral nervous system) can negatively impact health in a number of ways. Restoring the body’s homeostasis can reduce the physiological impact of stressors on the body.

LAVENDER – Lavender is an oil that has been used for millennia and noted for its cleaning and healthful properties. Through modern scientific testing its time proven properties have been confirmed. It is one of the most popular and used of the essential oils. There are multiple types of lavender (from different plants) so it is important to have lavandula angustifolia. This specie is more refined and therefore more expensive but has much preferred qualities to use for personal health conditions. The preferred lavender is steam distilled from the flowering tops of plants with some of the finest quality from Europe. D?Terra Lavender is steam distilled from the flowering tops of plants from France (fine high altitude) and Bulgaria (super high altitude). These are joined together in equal ratios.
MELALEUCA – Melaleuca oil or tea tree oil, (TTO) as it is often referred, was named by Captain Cook who often used it as a tea. An Australian chemist, A.R. Penfold, studied tea tree leaves and discovered their antiseptic properties. Tea tree oil subsequently became a standard treatment in Australia for the prevention and treatment of wound infections. During World War II, the Australian government classified tea tree oil as an essential commodity and exempted producers from military service. Melaleuca has been documented to kill many bacteria, viruses, and fungi on contact so it is excellent for cuts, wounds, burns, and anywhere that bacteria might be found. It has a historical use as an antiseptic for the face, skin disorders including acne, and dandruff. It is effective to use at the onset of flu and cold symptoms. Will reduce gum inflammation and is used for periodontal disease. D?Terra Melaleuca Essential Oil is from the botanical family Myrtaceae, with the oil being processed by steam distillation from the leaf of the tree.

It can be both energizing and uplifting, while being sedative by instilling feelings of peace. It is used in the treatment of anorexia, and has been used as an anti-cancer agent. D?Terra Wild Orange, is of the botanical family Rutaceae, grown in the Dominican Republic, with the oil expressed from the peel of the fruit.
PEPPERMINT – Peppermint has been used by the Egyptians, Romans, and down through the ages. It grows in Australia, Europe, and North America. It is widely used in foods, candies, gums, dental products, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. Because of this wide acceptance, and hence mass production, it is important to avoid peppermint essential oils that may come from some of the high volume production processes that sacrifice quality and purity for inexpensive volume. Low cost usually is not high quality. D?Terra is steam distilled from the flowering tops of the plant that is grown in the United States.
Many studies have noted the power of peppermint, even in smaller amounts for stomach problems. Aromatherapists have long suggested using peppermint either internally, aromatically, or topically for indigestion, nausea, or other digestive ailments. Topically a 1 or 2% dilution with a carrier can be massaged over the abdomen.
Peppermint is often used to improve mental alertness and acuity. Apply peppermint to the back of the neck to help relieve stress and tension. It can be applied to the temples to relieve headache. When applied to the bottom of the feet, peppermint creates a cooling sensation and may help to reduce fever. Its aroma is uplifting and invigorating and when used topically can be soothing to tired, sore muscles. Its cooling sensation is perfect for fresh breath and opening the sinuses and airways. The FDA certifies peppermint as GRAS. Mixing a drop of peppermint with a blend of other oils will help the body absorb the constituents faster.
